Red Bull Sound Select 2.21.2015
This past Saturday I shot this February’s Red Bull Sound Select in Atlanta. As you may have noticed just about every month I have something from Red Bull to post. They are beyond an amazing client. Every person who works for them is rad and has a connection with some underground/local scene from whatever city they are in or are from. For those reasons they put on one of the best Sound Select’s I’ve gotten to shoot. I grew up in the Atlanta/Metro Atlanta Punk Hardcore scene so that is my comfort zone to photograph. Red Bull put together, not just a great hardcore show, but a great hardcore/hip hop show. Which is rare to find for a show to flow as well as it did with an audience interested and engaged in every band as much as they were.
The show consisted of local hardcore band Criminal Instinct opening it up and almost making the floors cave in. Then local hip hop group Two-9 came on and trying to move around to capture photos was like being trapped in a New York subway train at rush hour. Atlanta loves their local bands and that is just the truth. Rat King came on after, seemingly calming down the mayhem, but mainly because of their mellow sound and engaging lyrics. Trash Talk came on last and tore the remaining pieces of The Masquerade apart.
